Our verdict
The Cliff Manor Hotel is for guests who like a building with some history. It is a restored Victorian seaside hotel on the West Cliff, converted into apartments, and the walk into the town centre is short and mostly level.
Who it suits
Guests who want to be able to walk to restaurants, shops and the Central Gardens without a hill, and still be near the sea; the location reviews show how often guests mention that walk. Couples book the one-bedroom apartments, which each have a private garden, and the couples and occasions reviews are a good read before a weekend for two. Families and small groups book the two-bedroom apartments, which come with a balcony and a panoramic sea view. Every apartment has a full kitchen, fast Wi-Fi and a smart TV.

The honest caveats
It is about 600 metres from the beach rather than on the seafront, and the way down is by the zig-zag paths or the West Cliff Lift.
A converted Victorian building has the character of one: rooms and layouts vary more than in a new build, so read the listing for the apartment you are booking.
The sea view comes with the two-bedroom apartments, not the one-bedroom garden apartments.

There were two of us visiting Bournemouth for a couple of days so Jon's apartment was in an ideal location to explore the town. Great restaurants a few minutes walk away including Old Harry's Rock bar and restaurant. Very relaxed atmosphere and great food. The apartment was immaculate and had everything you would need to enjoy your stay. The kitchen had everything we needed and all of the appliances appeared to be new. We were able to park in a designated space outside the apartment block which was a bonus as parking in the area is fairly limited. For the level of space, attention to detail and high quality finishes throughout, this apartment represented great value. I can highly recommend!

Excellent modern apartment, very clean throughout all the rooms and spacious. Love the complimentary toiletries with everything needed in the apartment. Communication was great by Jon with checking in details. The accommodation is a short walk away near to the beach, grocery shop and pier either by walking or car. It's my third time travelling to Bournemouth and this has been my favourite and cleanest accommodation I've stayed at. It was warm in the apartment but was manageable, having a fan in the second bedroom helps aswell as windows open.
Lovely apartment, good communication, wish they had detailed that it's really tricky to park down the alley due to narrow spaces but from reading the reviews i didn't take the bigger car fortunately but really handy to have a space/ very clean and little touches like salt and pepper handy, good location in terms of shops and restaurants and walking to the beach but sitting on the balcony overlooking a derelict building was a shame but not the hosts fault - thank you, would stay again
