Staying in Bournemouth for a month or more with Flexiestays means booking a furnished apartment online at a monthly rate that includes the bills. From 28 nights, the price switches automatically to one monthly figure covering electricity, gas, water, fibre Wi-Fi, council tax, the TV licence, parking and gym access. There is no tenancy, no guarantor and no agency fee, and no commitment beyond the first month.
Long stays are a large part of what Flexiestays does: the average stay is over 19 nights. This guide covers how a monthly stay works, what it costs you beyond the rate (very little), and what guests who stayed for months say about it.
Who stays by the month
The help centre lists the people who most often book a month or more:
- contractors and consultants on assignments in Bournemouth or Poole
- people moving to the area who want to live here before committing to a lease or a purchase
- anyone working remotely from the coast for a few months
- patients and families near the Royal Bournemouth Hospital
- teams and relocating staff on a company account
- students on Bournemouth University term stays
If you are between homes, see temporary accommodation while you move. If your employer is paying, see contractor and corporate stays.
What the monthly rate covers
One figure, billed monthly in advance, with no set-up charges and no separate utility bills. It includes:
- electricity, gas and water
- fibre Wi-Fi, suitable for video calls
- council tax and the TV licence
- parking
- 24/7 access to the gym
The apartment itself comes furnished and equipped: a full kitchen with cookware and crockery, a washing machine and dishwasher, a smart TV with Netflix and Disney+, bed linen and towels, an iron and a hair dryer, and a workspace in most apartments. You bring a suitcase.
What is not included is what you would buy anyway: food, toiletries and anything you add to the apartment. Servicing during a monthly stay is agreed with you when you book, so tell the team what you need.
How it differs from renting
A long stay is a serviced let, not an assured shorthold tenancy. In practice that means:
- No agency fees and no guarantor.
- No six-week deposit held for months. There is a standard cleaning and security deposit, shown at booking and returned after check-out, less any damage or extra cleaning.
- No fixed term beyond the first month. You extend or shorten with notice; the notice period is in your confirmation.
- Move in within days. You book online and your arrival instructions arrive before you travel.
For anyone who needs to be in Bournemouth now and does not yet know for how long, that flexibility is the main reason to choose a serviced apartment over a rental.
What guests say about living here
The reviews from long-stay guests are some of the most detailed on this site. They talk about the space, the quiet and the team more than the beach:
“We stayed at Flexiestays over the course of about 5 winter months. It has been an amazing experience. The rooms are nice, newly renovated, and have pretty much everything you need, and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful.” (David, Trustpilot)
“Lovely and cosy apartment in the centre of Bournemouth, and managing to still be quiet. Close to the train station (and buses), big Asda superstore, town centre, park and the beach.” (Alexandra, Trustpilot)
More are on the long stays reviews page.
Choosing the right apartment
All Flexiestays buildings take monthly bookings. For a long stay, look for:
- A proper workspace if you work from the apartment. Many apartments have a desk; ask the team which ones do.
- A washing machine, standard in apartments, but not in the hotel-style rooms at some buildings.
- A second bedroom if two people work from home, or colleagues share.
- Parking, which is in the monthly rate. Check how many vehicles the apartment allows.
Each building’s page on this site lists its room types and walking times. Start from the hotels page.
Paying for a long stay
Payments go through the Flexiestays website and its Stripe checkout, by card or another listed method. Every payment comes with an invoice, and VAT invoices are available if you need them for expenses. If a monthly payment fails, the team sends a secure link to complete it; reply quickly, because an unpaid month without an agreement can end the booking.
Monthly bookings have their own cancellation terms, shown at checkout before you pay and in your confirmation.
Extending and ending
Tell the team as early as you can if you want to stay on, ideally before your current month ends, so they can hold the apartment. If it is already booked for your new dates, they will offer another apartment in the same building where possible. To leave early, give notice in writing by email or message, and the team confirms your final night and any adjustment to your last invoice. Check-out on the last day is by 10am, the same as any stay.
The help centre explains what counts as a long stay and what is included in the monthly rate in full.

We needed a place to stay while waiting on our house purchase
We needed a place to stay while waiting on the final stage of our house purchase. Flexiestays was a brilliant option for us. 3 months at a very decent price, free off road parking, great location in the centre of town without feeling loud and we never had an issue with other guests. The team were always happy to help and the facilities were decent. We look back on our time with Flexiestays fondly.
